Missoula Children’s Theatre – Summer Camp Performance

Graduates of Camp One World are given the rare opportunity to show friends, family, and peers what they’ve learned as they display their new talents on the One World stage.  Beauty Lou & The Country Beast is an original country-western adaptation of the classic fairy tale, Beauty & The Beast.  Beauty Lou is the oldest daughter of the bronc-bustin' balladeer Buckaroo Bob.  At the local county fair, young Beauty Lou is upset by the ungrateful behavior of a miner who has won the blue ribbon for his beautiful roses.  She calls him a beast and wishes that he would look like one too.  Years later, when in danger of losing the family farm, Buckaroo Bob meets the miner-turned-beast.  Beauty Lou agrees to befriend the Beast in order to save her family.  Beauty Lou and the Beast both learn to look beyond appearances and first impressions and to see the beauty that dwells inside.

Ray Price has been one of country music’s greatest innovators, creating an industry of musicians who either wrote or played for him.  Besides hits like “Release Me,” and “Crazy Arms,” Price also gave a career leg up to many young musicians and songwriters. Willie Nelson, Roger Miller, and Johnny Paycheck all passed through his band, the Cherokee Cowboys.  His last album was 2007’s Last of the Breed with fellow country music legends Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard.

Dale Watson has long been a torchbearer for classic country becoming an American music original in the process.  A staunch adherent of old-style honky tonk, Watson is best known for semi-autobiographical tunes brought to life by his rough-as-diamonds, cry-in-your-beer baritone.  Having won music awards in Europe, Watson’s music has been championed by critics and fans alike in the Country and Americana music scenes.

Lone Star Legend, Jerry Jeff Walker returns to One World Theatre.  Best known as the writer of “Mr. Bojangles,” Walker is an American music legend and one of the forefathers of the outlaw/progressive country sound.  He writes music through a troubadour’s eyes that has retained the power to touch generations of listeners and inspiring folks like Pat Green, Robert Earl Keen and Garth Brooks along the way.  As an elder statesman of Texas music, Walker helped put Austin on the map as “The Live Music Capital of the World.”
